Established in 1984, 4CRB 89.3 FM is a community radio station based on the Gold Coast. The station was one of the first in Australia to secure a community license and holds the distinction of being the first community broadcaster on the Gold Coast. 


The inaugural broadcast occurred on March 19, 1984, followed by the official opening on May 10, 1984, officiated by former Premier of Queensland, Joh Bjelke-Petersen, former Mayor of the Gold Coast, Denis O’Connell, and Father Paul McLachlan. Hilton and Dulcie Redding were among the founders of 4CRB, with Hilton authoring a book titled "4CRB – The Early Days", detailing the station's formative years – www.4crb.com

 

Over the years, 4CRB has evolved into a dynamic station, connecting with approximately 82,000 listeners per week across the Gold Coast, Northern New South Wales, southern Brisbane, and Ipswich regions. The station offers a blend of easy-listening music from the 1950s to today, including top hits and evergreen favourites.

In addition to music, 4CRB provides a variety of programs such as law talks, medical advice segments, and travel hours, catering to the interests of its audience. The station has also embraced digital advancements, launching on DAB+ digital radio to extend its reach and exploring opportunities to serve underserved communities through this platform.

4CRB remains a cherished voice on the Gold Coast, delivering high-quality, easy-listening programs and essential community-focused content to its loyal audience.

 

In January 2025, the station launched its digital radio station, Culture Radio focusing on world and traditional music, as well as informative multilingual programs – www.culture.org.au
